Ride Sally ride

So first and foremost I have to say our beach run went really well. It was hot as balls, which since you ladies wouldn't know about that, trust me, that's hot. We tried to get a picture of the beach but we just weren't able to so this will have to suffice:

We did week 2 day 3 (me for the 2nd time). Liz felt like the run went well. She liked the breeze coming off the ocean which I agree was nice and it made the heat much more bearable. Even though the sand was pretty well packed where we were running I noticed a bit of a difference, as did Liz, in the difficulty that it added. I won't steal all the beach blogging glory and I'll let Liz talk some about it in her post.

All in all a great run surrounded by a great weekend of Vocare!

I think I have a crush on running

The other day Mitch Roper and I were chatting on IM and he said a friend of his talks about runnng as if runningwere a woman. If that is the case then I am totally crushing on running. But if running is a woman, she's kind of a bitch. Either that or a dominatrix cause I hurt while I was running these last few times.

For some reason I let myself get talked into going running with my sister BEFORE WORK on Friday mornings. That starts tomorrow. So lets recap, running at like 7am with my sister, running at some point with Liz W at Vocare this weekend and running on Sunday when I get home. Am I crazy?!? Seriously though I'm going to cut out that Sunday run for this week so I can run with Liz W (Yay! I'm really looking forward to that!) and the Friday morning run might replace my Thurday run we'll see.

Week 2 day 3 is in the books. I had a stich in my side flare up towords the end of the 90 secs almost every time today. But on a positive note I actually calculated how many laps I ran and I did 2 miles! I did it in about 28 minutes (including the 5 min warmup walk). Amanda went with me again today and kept the time while she walked. She did a mile and a half so yay Amanda!

And lastly I did some math after talking to Liz B today and we figured that I've lost 50 lbs in the last 16 months. And that was basically before I started running. So I feel pretty good about myself. Look for a post this weekend after the Vocare run with Liz W.

not bad, not bad

I've started to find that I sweat a lot after I've done a couple of rotations while running.....hah.  I can just imagine how red my face gets when I run haha.  I also decided that I need some new running clothes.  And an armband for my iPod.  I totally knocked it off the treadmill today when I was at the gym.  Oops!  But it was fine. :)  I've also realized that I'm not as sore as I thought I would be when I'm done running.  Of which I'm completely fine with, but I guess it just shows that my muscles are starting to build up......maybe.....haha.  I dunno really. :)  I'm still getting a little more winded than I would like towards the end of the run, but I can't expect to be running without a few huffs and puffs here and there I guess.  Nothing happens overnight! :)  My current dilemma is that I'll be driving on Friday and then will be hitting the ground running (haha, ya like that one?) once Matt & I get to FL for SWFL's Vocare weekend.  But I think Matt & I are going to try to find time on Saturday to run.  So that'll be my Friday. :)

On another note, had Rita's today for the first time with Liz. :)  She had the mango ice with orange cream custard and I had the banana ice with chocolate custard.  It was delish. :)  And here's our lovely pic of our Rita's goodness:

PS:  Don't really know why my last pic didn't show up, but it was the Marine Corps seal. :)

something clever

Week 2, Day 2 went pretty well I told Liz Baykur that it was probably the most difficult run so far, of the runs where i was running the correct times. Amanda went with me, which was nice, she kept the overall time while I did the 90 secs, 2 min thing. It was a little tricky because I had to take my headphones out to talk to her as i passed, so I could then hear her indication that time was up. It all ended up being pointless though because she stopped and did a cool down stretch and by the time I got back to her, time was up. I've been going up on my time the last two sessions btw. Sunday I set my countdown thing to 26 mins (including the warm up) and today was 27 mins (including the warm up).

It was very hot today, which doesn't bother me really. I usually do my running during the week around 5-6ish and 2-3ish on Sundays. Say all this talk about being hot got me thinking we need to cool off, mentally anyway. So here is a picture of my sliding down a giant inflateable waters slide

Yay!

Also on a non running note, We heard our baby's heartbeat again today! the Dr. said it was very strong (must all the running I'm doing.....wait....)

till Thursday

Matt

empty liquor bottles, condoms, and your momm.

What do all those things have in common, might you ask? I spotted them all on my run this morning, of course! "Your Momm" was actually written in the pavement, at which point I almost laughed aloud when I saw it.

I had to switch up my schedule a little this week. So at this point it is a Monday, Tuesday, Thursday week. Tomorrow I have a wound care seminar, maybe a meeting at the cathedral, hopefully Rita's, and then movie night at St. Bart's. Thursday I have my computer training class, so I can stop by the gym on my way home. Friday I have my first shift!! 6:45 am. Sharp. Punctuality is VERY important to my manager. Scary.

Week 2, Day 2 was pretty good, since I was running the correct times today haha. I was really worried my ipod was going to die on me, but it didn't!! Now I just have to remember to charge it before Thursday.

Instead of a picture, I have a link: Cheap music!! I think I'm going to get the new Phoenix album.

Week 2 begins.....

Today wasn't too bad with the change in times of jogging, but I could definitely feel it.  Like Matt said, it was good to have the extra 30 seconds of walk time with the addition of the 30 seconds of jog time.  I started off pretty strong, but by the end I was totally feeling it.  But I felt slightly accomplished when I was done, too.  So that was positive. :)  I don't have any pictures related to running, but there's a military recruiting office right next to my gym and today some very handsome Marines were standing outside.  So here ya go:

So right now my training schedule is Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.  But this week it might have to be Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday.  Why the change, you may ask?  Because I'll be with Matt in Florida at the Diocese of SWFL's Vocare #11!  So I'm pretty sure that there won't really be much time for a run Friday night.....sooooo before I leave for South GA on Thursday I'll do my Week 2 Day 3 training.  I'm okay with it though. :)

My new shoes are still pretty awesome.  I heart them lots. :)  And my battle wound, the blister from last week, is better.  That's positive. :)  I'm excited about getting Week 2 accomplished!  So proud!

geese, italian ice, and a little bit of running

Lets see... oh right. So it's Week 2, Day 1. I realized though, that I did what Matt did last week, and mix up the running vs. the walking times, haha. So next run should be a little easier. I also slacked some on my stretching a little today... not on purpose though. I heard a story about geese today, how when they are flying in their formation, they honk to encourage each other, and I immediately thought of our running :) . So now I think of all of us as geese. Haha. Geese lessons (it's the 4th one on there, I am sure a million companies use these, but whatever).

I have been really craving Rita's Italian Ice this week.

I am hoping to get to the grocery store soonish... I don't have like real food here. I think I'm going to get some hummus and rice cakes for snacks, and cheddar bunnies for my lunches at the hospital. I have a surplus of fruits and veggies for the time being. I need more idk, entree type foods. Hopefully once I start work, I'll be more intentional in my meal planning. Because lately it's just been, hmmm what do i have around? Nutella and saltines? sure that sounds like dinner.

Work was good today! Everyone in the hospital is like, ridiculously team work oriented. And insist on making the hospital your second family. So a couple of us are standing in line in the cafeteria, and this nurse in front of us was like staring at our name tags and asking us where we were working, and how things were going. Also, I'm going to get to cross train for the heart monitoring unit, and then later the cardiac ICU. I really love our nurse educator. She's really funny and goofy and loud and from New Jersey. At one point I was sitting in orientation, and we were all discussing something hospital related and I realized, FINALLY! I am where I am supposed to be.
